Verizon Reseller Manager Accused of Accessing Customer Data
Mahwah, NJ — A store manager at a Verizon third-party reseller in Mahwah is facing charges after allegedly accessing a customer’s locked smartphone without permission, viewing emails, deleting personal data, and posting fraudulent reviews.
The incident happened at the Verizon location inside the Acme shopping center on Franklin Turnpike. According to Mahwah Police, Alexander Khoury, 31, of Union City, NJ, was working at the store when a customer noticed a locked note left open on her screen. Soon after, she began receiving strange emails and discovered messages had been deleted from her device.
Detective Christopher Fasulo led the investigation, which tied the unauthorized activity back to Khoury. He has been charged with a computer crime and was released on a summons pending a court appearance in Hackensack.
This was not a corporate Verizon store but a third-party reseller. That distinction matters. Many customers and business owners walk into these stores assuming staff are directly employed and vetted by Verizon, which is not always the case.
